Pyramids of Giza & Special Opening to the Stella of Dreams at the Paws of the Sphinx

Explore these ancient wonders, built as giant tombs for the pharaohs, and uncover the mysteries of the Sphinx with a special opening to the Stella of Dreams. Day 3: Palaces and Mosques

 

Tour to Coptic Cairo and Mosques of Sultan Hassan and Refaie

Explore the rich cultural heritage of Cairo with a tour of the ancient churches of Coptic Cairo and the historic mosques of Sultan Hassan and Refaie Mosque. Legend says, the Church of St. Sergius was built on the spot where the Holy Family, Joseph, Mary and Jesus rested at the end of their journey into Egypt. They may even have lived here while Joseph worked at the fortress. Refaie Mosque, a much newer mosque houses the tombs of Egypt’s last royal family and the last Shah of Iran.

 

The Manial Palace: Historical Background and "The Prince's Ball"

Enjoy free time at Khan El Khalili Bazaar before heading out to Manial Palace for dinner at “The Prince’s Ball”. An oriental palace, originally commissioned in 1899, Manial Palace breathes life into Prince Mohamed Ali Tawfik’s original visions with beautiful gardens full of rare plants and saplings from the four corners of the globe as well as gold-leafed columns, stained glass windows and hand-painted ceilings.

 

On arrival at the gates, you’ll be welcomed by a corridor of police brass bandsman before enjoying cocktails at the terrace of the Golden Hall with fine, pass-around canapés and high tables. Finally, step into the grand columns of the Golden Room for an evening of fine dining along the backdrop of a traditional oriental “tacht” or String Quartet.

 

Day 4: Private Tent Experience

Half day visit to the Museum of Egyptian Civilization

Begin your day with an early morning visit to the Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), the first of its kind in Egypt and the Arab world. From prehistoric times right up to the present day, the museum showcases the richness and diversity of Egyptian civilization, emphasising its continuity and stability over the ages. Explore the museum's exceptional collection and gain new insight into the rituals and religious beliefs surrounding mummification in ancient Egypt through immersive displays and engaging exhibits.

 

Dinner at the Sound and Light in Front of the Sphinx and the Pyramids

Experience a memorable farewell dinner at the iconic Sound and Light show overlooking the Great Sphinx and the three Pyramids. This private dinner will feature live entertainment of your choice and a deluxe set menu, creating a magical ambiance against the backdrop of Egypt’s ancient wonders.

 

Private Tent Experience

After dinner, you’ll be guided to your private tent for the night, ready for an evening of spectacle and entertainment. A red carpet lined with flaming torches will lead the celebration, coupled the authentic Arabian "Zaffa" performers showcasing traditional music and dance. Enjoy dancing horses, flame eaters, and musicians before tucking in to a glass of "karkady" (sweet hibiscus juice).


Choose from a variety of live entertainment options to enhance your evening, including live Egyptian music bands, string quartets, chamber orchestras, live singers, or Egyptian folkloric shows. Whatever your preference, the evening promises to be a memorable celebration of Egyptian culture and hospitality.

 

Day 5: Aswan

Explore Abu Simble and Arrive in Aswan

Board your flight to Abu Simbel via Aswan and prepare for an awe-inspiring experience at one of Egypt's most iconic sites. Built by the great Ramses II, Abu Simbel features two temples carved into the sandstone mountains. Marvel at the colossal statues of Ramses II at the Great Temple of Ra-Harakhte and explore the Temple of Hathor dedicated to Queen Nefertari.

 

After Abu Simbel, it’s time to head to Aswan Airport, where an Abercrombie & Kent tour coordinator will meet you. Board a bus to drive to your cruise, the Sanctuary Sun Boat III, and check in at noon. Upon arrival on board, you'll be welcomed with chilled fruit juice while assisted with your check-in.

 

Enjoy entertainment on board, including a colourful "galabeyya party" where guests can dress up in traditional Egyptian attire and dance to Arabic music. Throughout your cruise, you'll also be treated to performances by a belly dancer, a whirling dervish show in Luxor, and a trio of authentic Egyptian musicians during afternoon tea.

Day 6: Kom Ombo

Kom Ombo and Edfu:

Start your day with a morning visit to the Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and built by the last dynasty of Ancient Egypt. Take in the views from Agilkia Island and arrive back at the cruise in time for a hearty lunch on the river as you sail the Nile to Kom Ombo. Tuck into local delicacies and a freshly prepared barbecue and enjoy picturesque views along the way.

 

Explore the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek, and learn about its fascinating history. Return to the cruise and sail to Edfu, where you'll enjoy dinner and spend the night on board.

Day 7: Edfu & Luxor

Edfu, Luxor and Luxor Temple:

After breakfast on board, explore the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the largest and most completely preserved Pharaonic temple in Egypt. Return to the cruise and sail to Luxor, enjoying afternoon tea on board as you cruise along the Nile.

 

In Luxor, visit the iconic Luxor Temple, dedicated to the god Amun-Ra. In the evening, enjoy an "Egyptian Night" costume party on board, where guests can dress up in traditional Egyptian "galabeyas" and indulge in a lavish buffet of Egyptian specialties followed by local music and dancing.

 

Day 8: Valley of the Kings

Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temple

Start your day with breakfast on board as you sail to Luxor for your final night amongst the Valley of the Kings. Explore the West Bank of Luxor, where you can find some of Egypt’s most magnificent tombs carved into the desert rocks and head over to the impressive Hatshepsut Temple, dedicated to the female pharaoh Hatshepsut. Continue the tour with a visit to the Temple of Karnak, a vast complex built over more than a thousand years and see the work of generations of pharaohs up close for yourself.

 

Afternoon Tea onboard:

After a jam-packed morning at the Valley of the Kings, return to your cruise for a relaxing afternoon tea on board. Reflect on the morning’s activities while enjoying a selection of teas, herbal infusions, fresh coffee, and a variety of freshly baked homemade cakes, cookies, and finger food.

 

Gala Dinner at Habu Temple:

As dusk begins to set, experience the ancient temple illuminated at night and enjoy a fine dining experience out at the Habu Temple.  

Arrive in style as pharaonic guards in traditional attire welcome you with flame torches, while waiters offer trays of local wines and beers. Witness the stunning illumination of the temple's majestic pylons, each one revealing the ancient splendour of Ramses III's legacy. After the cocktail reception, take a private guided tour of the temple at night, specially illuminated for your group, allowing you to marvel at its architectural wonders at your own pace away from the crowds.

Return to the temple facade, where a fine set-menu dinner awaits and enjoy your finale night in Egypt’s most captivating cities.




 

Day 9: Departures

Departure from Luxor
