Behind the Scenes at The Chancery Rosewood: Setting a New Standard for Luxury Events
This October, London welcomed the opening of The Chancery Rosewood - and with it, a new standard for luxury events. Set within one of the city’s most iconic addresses, Rosewood’s newest debut blends diplomatic history with cutting-edge creativity. Think bold design, world-class gastronomy and a sense of place that inspires at every turn. Host venue for inVOYAGE Masters 2025, we take an exclusive look behind the scenes to see what’s in store for our inVOYAGERS this October…
A Legacy Reborn
The story begins with the building itself. Once home to the U.S. Embassy, The Chancery Rosewood carries a legacy of diplomacy and bold architectural vision. In fact, Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen — best known for New York’s TWA Flight Centre — designed the building’s striking modernist façade while on his honeymoon, combining grandeur with effortless elegance.
Atop the hotel, the golden eagle (originally sculpted from B-52 bomber aluminium by Theodore Roszak) remains proudly in place, now protected under the building’s Grade II listing. An unforgettable backdrop for any high-end event.
designing the future
Inside the hotel, the narrative continues - this time through the lens of celebrated French interior designer Joseph Dirand (The creative mind behind the hotel’s 144 suites). Known for his poetic minimalism and reverence for modernist architecture, Dirand sought to honour Saarinen’s legacy while reinterpreting it for a contemporary audience. As he reflects,
“I was extremely excited to be part of this journey — to contribute to this building that I consider to be a masterpiece. By tributing the 60s within this experience, it’s talking about a certain period of London that was so inspiring for the rest of the world.”
The Art Within
Further inside, the building’s creative reinvention truly comes to life. Through a collaboration with London-based art consultants Cramer & Bell, 22 contemporary artists were commissioned to create bespoke pieces displayed throughout its spaces. From striking lobby installations to thoughtful pieces in private suites, each work reflects London’s vibrant cultural spirit.
Beyond the spaces themselves, a full-time art concierge is on hand to guide guests through the collection, revealing the stories behind each artist and their process.
"Having a full-time art concierge, allows us to immerse our guests in the art world around the property and the area of London. Being able to offer a specialised art tour – be that at the Royal Academy or a private collection in the area – means we can deliver unique experiences to our clients and ensure that, in terms of the experience economy, we are maximising our offering.” - Michael Bonsor, Managing Director, The Chancery Rosewood.
This deep commitment to creative partnerships has become the hotel’s defining hallmark. Under Bonsor’s leadership, The Chancery Rosewood has evolved into an experiential destination where every element - from design and service to storytelling -is carefully curated to leave a lasting impression.
A Taste of Imagination: Marius Dufay at Jacqueline
That curation extends to the culinary offering. In Jacqueline, the hotel’s tearoom, dessert becomes theatre under the direction of Marius Dufay, one of Europe’s most celebrated pastry chefs. Renowned for his work in Michelin-starred kitchens, Dufay has brought his signature blend of imagination and precision to London for the first time. His exclusive pastry menu blurs the line between gastronomy and sculpture, creating a sensory journey that’s both elegant and unexpected — and adding a remarkable new dimension to the venue’s events offering.
The Sound of Modern London
In keeping with its mission to be more than a destination, The Chancery Rosewood is fast becoming one of London’s key cultural meeting points. Through a new partnership with an East London music collective, the hotel curates a dynamic programme of performances, creative sessions, and immersive sound experiences.
These collaborations unite musicians, artists, and innovators from around the world, cultivating a vibrant community of tastemakers who come together to inspire, engage, and connect. For luxury events, this spirit of creativity brings a distinctive rhythm and energy that turns typical gatherings into unforgettable cultural moments.
Through global partnerships across music, cuisine, art and more, The Chancery Rosewood is not just a place to visit, but a space to connect with likeminded tastemakers and experience the best of the world — all through a uniquely London lens.
